What is a parapet wall?

Parapet walls are like extensions of the brick walls at the ends of buildings. They’re a low-level, protective layer that’s built right next to the roof. They provide continuity and support, like air, water, vapor, and heat control. This helps keep the roof from corroding or deteriorating. You can build a parapet wall with a variety of materials, like reinforced cement, steel, aluminum, and glass. It should be no more than 3 feet tall, and the minimum thickness is 9 inches.

Why do you need parapet wall?

Parapets are like a protective barrier around the inside of the building’s terrace. They help keep the roof safe and open up lots of possibilities for people to use it. They also make sure the people using the roof stay safe.

Types of parapet walls

Plain parapet wall

A plain parapet is an extension of a wall at the end of a ridge. It is a specific type of wall that is used for safety purposes. It has a concrete cap at the top of the wall and is stitched to the bottom. A plain parapet is easy to put together and requires little upkeep.

Embattled parapet wall

It is a type of parapet that is not used today in modern buildings, but can be found in many old buildings. The parapet has alternating parts that are high and low at the top. In the modern period, this type of wall is used during the commissioning process of a building that has a historic look. Due to their attractive appearance and unique character, the embattled parapet is being built to improve the appearance of the building.

Perforated parapet walls

It’s like a regular wall, but instead of just a plain wall, it’s a perforated section of the wall. Depending on the style of the building, the size of the holes can vary.
